Yesterday

Yesterday we had a little bit of time to rest. I got up early and talked to Dennis about a website that he wants me to help him with that works to sponsor girls for English lessons at the school we are attending. The website's address is http://www.giftofenglish.com/ It is no where near finished, but I am preparing lots of information to give to the webmaster so that we can upload all of the information to the website. It is a huge job, but Leyna and Melissa are helping me get the information organized and we are trying our best to get lots of good information about the girls so that we can make the website as robust as possible. Anyone can go out and look at the girls that need sponsors and decide if they want to sponsor them. It is only $35 a month for English lessons. Josephina at the school does it for as cheap as she can. She is a blessing. The girls that have sponsors will be able to write letters and chat with their sponsors through the website also, so it's a pretty cool thing! Pray that by Tuesday afternoon Paco and I make some major headway and that I am able to help him a lot with this project. The girls went to the market to get a few gifts for friends and family yesterday and then we all met at Tom and Lou's house and walked to dinner. Tom bought us dinner and we bought dessert! We are going to have them for a nice dinner at our house on Tuesday and we are going to work together to make it special for them. They are awesome friends! Tom does so much for the orphanage and for Patronados por Ninos in the city of San Miguel. He has also been the one to help us work with Feed the Hungry, which helped us make contact with Forgotten Children, which is a great contact for Dennis, so everyone is involved in God's purpose here. It's pretty amazing. Lou is the one who got the girls signed up as volunteers at the animal shelter too. God has really blessed us through them.

We do not have much time to spend with the ninas, and I know that Leyna is already struggling with leaving them. I'm sure that the other girls are too. Scheduling is difficult, and you are left feeling like you could do more. It's sort of frustrating. But God has given us so many opportuities here to learn, make friends, and serve. I just don't think that they girls will realize the impact until they are home. We have clothes to give, crafts to finish for bible camp, a bible study to attend, a special dinner to prepare for Tom and Lou, English lessons to tutor, and another play day with the ninas. We have much to do, and we have accomplished much.

We are going to "do church" here this morning as soon as the rest of the girls wake up! I have prepared some things, and we are going to sing. God has been so good to us. Thank you for all of the prayers. We have not been sick, we are unified, we are strong in our faith...praise the Lord!

Love to all,

Leyna and Pam

I hope you all get a lot of rest today, that would be great for you. I can see just through what you have written that you DO have a strong impact. Each entry, I see how you reach out into the community and dive into the culture more and more. Be encouraged, even though leaving will be hard.
